Joyce Gardner Hurd is an American novelist and former advertising executive. Between those careers she’s also worked as a waitress, secretary and long distance telephone operator. She earned her degree in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University after she retired.

Growing up in Massachusetts, as the child of deaf parents, she learned to appreciate her parents’ resilience and courage. She now lives near the seacoast in New Hampshire with her Maine Coon cat, Kiki and her lifetime collection of books. She enjoys reading, gardening and exploring the New England seacoast and spending time with friends and family.
