Mystery/thriller author John G. Bluck recently (December 2022) signed a seven-year literary contract with Wolfpack Publishing doing business as Rough Edges Press. The first five novels in Bluck's Luke Ryder series have been published, and a sixth book is being written.

“We’re excited to be taking on Bluck’s Luke Ryder series,” said Patience Bramlett, an editor at Rough Edges Press. “These exquisite crime thrillers offer a refreshing spin on the over-inflated thriller genre—in the best way possible.”

I think I don't have this problem now because I used to write news articles and press releases on deadline. I just get to it, and start typing. Sometimes, I make a plan when I'm writing a book. Other times I have an idea and let my fingers fling out the words.

I used to use the 'inverted pyramid,' when I wrote news -- I put the most important things first in my news items. I answered who? what? when? where? why? and how? My formula was first to write the lead sentence. Then I put in a second sentence. The third sentence was the best quote that helped tell the story.

When I was a student, I often had writer's block. It started in grammar school, and I continued to suffer from it all the way through graduate school. The discipline of writing news erased the problem after I was drafted, and I became an army journalist during the Vietnam War.

“My dear,
Find what you love and let it kill you.
Let it drain you of your all. Let it cling onto your back and weigh you down into eventual nothingness.
Let it kill you and let it devour your remains.
For all things will kill you, both slowly and fastly, but it’s much better to be killed by a lover.
