Kathleen Adams is a cultural anthropologist affiliated with SOAS, University of London, and Loyola University. Chicago. The author of multiple award-winning books, Adams' research and writings address cultural aspects of tourism, migration, heritage, and the arts. She was a Fulbright scholar in Indonesia and is currently a Fulbright Specialist (2023-2026). Her long-term research focuses on the Toraja highlands of Sulawesi (Indonesia), with shorter-term research elsewhere in island Southeast Asia and California. Adams received the 2026 Roy Wolfe Award for "outstanding contributions to the field and discipline of recreation, tourism, and sport geography" from the American Association of Geographers and was named one of the USA and Canada's "3 ...more
