I have a thumb drive with ideas, story starters, titles, first page/chapter/paragraph etc. and visit these regularly. When inspiration hits, I go with it, if not, I take a look at something else.. Everyday, I add something to the list as things, scenes, conversations trigger something.
3am seems to be an inspirational time for me and it's not unusual for me to be sitting up in bed writing down ideas, story lines, even the outline for a full piece of work!
Having said that, it's also not unusual to re-visit my bedside notebook and wonder what on earth it all means!
I'm a great believer in 'go with the flow'.
Don't get stressed over it - move onto something else or simply don't write anything that day. Inspiration will only come when it's ready.(less)
