Sometimes one of the scariest things you can face in either case is a blank sheet of paper. The only real way to face that monster is to take it head on and fill the page. I learned in art school that an artist creates ALOT of trash before they get to that masterpiece. If you want to write or create anything worthwhile, you are going to have to get everything out--even if it isn't up to what you would consider worth doing. Don't be worried about writing that perfect scene or sentence, just get something out and keep going. For me, momentum helps a great deal. If I find myself completely uninspired then I read a book that has inspired me in the past or try to learn something new any interesting in which I would have an opinion to I will have SOMETHING to write about. If you truly have a voice, rarely will it get blocked. I mean, your mind never goes completely blank, does it? Write the negatives as well as the positives. Write the lows as well as the lows. It may not be a great read but it could be very deep and able to aid you on a future project.(less)
