Since moving to Calne, Wiltshire in 2016, I have discovered an enduring interest in the history of this wonderful town. To explore more deeply, I started a Facebook group called Calne in Photographs, and have been blessed with many members who generously share their insights, knowledge, and memories.

My first book, Calne Place Names, published in 2020, was an attempt to share what I’d learned and researched about Calne in my first four years of living here. It offers an overview of the town’s history through the lens of its place names—both official and unofficial—used over the centuries.

Calne Baptist Church - Rebuild Project

After 300+ years on Castle Street, there will be a pause in services there while the church is demolished and rebuilt. The final worship was 15 February 2026, while services will continue at Bremhill View Clubhouse during the rebuild.
