For me, when I hit the point where it starts getting difficult to write and I'm pausing too much between sentences, I trudge forward a little bit more and then I take a break. I'll read, play a video game, watch a movie, but most likely, I'll pick something up for a little bit and read it. (less)

I’ve recently been introduced to McFadden (of course with The Housemaid) and I decided to read Death Row - to see how she does with a short story , she does not disappoint. I also read Would You Like To Know A Secret?" Read more of this review »

An anti-climatic novella that is padded to limp over 300 hardcover pages. I had hoped that the Catalina series would be a one and done, but here we are only in book two and we already have Ballard here to pad the pages as a supporting character

The Hero Path

We have not even to risk the adventure alone
for the heroes of all time have gone before us.
The labyrinth is thoroughly known ...
we have only to follow the thread of the hero path.
And where we had thought to find an abomination
we shall find a God.

And where we had thought to slay another
we shall slay ourselves.
Where we had thought to travel outwards
we shall come to the center of our own existence.
And where we had thought to be alone
we shall be with all the world.”
Joseph Campbell
