I wanted to learn some techniques to create better images and designs for my site so I took a class at Nicole's Classes (online). I loved it so much that I kept taking classes and ended up taking almost every class they offered! The key to improving design skills is to practice, practice, practice. Taking online classes (and doing the homework) helped me to keep working at it a little bit at a time. I also took a few Skillshare classes as well, and I've heard great things about the classes offered at Atly. While taking online classes, I learned so much, and when my publisher saw my work, they asked if I would be interested in illustrating a diary for them (Watkins' Every Day Matters diaries), which I was thrilled to do. I've been working on those diaries for three years and my work there lead me to get other design jobs. I primarily use Adobe Illustrator for my design work, but I also use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign on occasion. (less)

While resolutions and reaching for new goals (things that are better done in springtime, when the world is primed for new beginnings) are being encouraged, what we actually should be encouraging is turning inward, slowing down
