Salutations! I feel that a brief introduction is necessary to let you, the prospective reader, know where I came from and where I'm coming from as a writer. So to start, I grew up in poverty-stricken, unincorporated communities of south Texas known as colonias. I say this not to invite sympathy or to make any pretense that my life was more difficult and interesting than it actually was; I and my siblings enjoyed a fairly comfortable life as things go.
