Paul Till currently lives in Chelmsford in Essex with his partner and their pretend cat, Carrot. He has been writing for the last twenty years or so, although he has paused briefly for food on occasion.
Starting off with a collection of very short stories based upon his friends and their antics, his ideas soon started to mature into a more cohesive structure, the characters developing until they had taken on an independent identity, separate from the people upon whom they were originally modelled. From there, the next logical step was to create a dedicated world for the new characters to inhabit, and this saw the creation of a fictional division of MI6. It is extremely unlikely that they will ever be published again, although copies still exist. Paul’s earlier writings have sadly been lost to time.
At some time during 2005, Paul decided to try a new challenge. Having proved to himself that there were people who enjoyed reading his stories and that publishing online hadn’t been a complete failure, he tried his hand at writing a comedy script for a radio production. It was his most polished and professional work to date, having been rewritten several times in places until he was finally happy with it. Despite receiving encouraging comments from friends and colleagues who he had asked to read through the script, when he sent it off to the BBC, it was returned some time later unread.
Not to be put off, he tried again with a different script but, once again, it was eventually returned, unread.
Naturally, Paul had to assume that someone at the BBC wasn’t doing their job properly and was missing the opportunity of a lifetime, so he waited a year and sent the scripts in again. The result was exactly the same, so in a terrible huff, Paul declared rather publicly what the BBC could go and do to themselves, and poured his creative juices into a spot of decorating and gardening before having what could quite conceivably be considered to be the most stonking of stonking ideas that he had ever had: The idea of adapting one of his scripts into a novel.
The big decision now was choosing which one to adapt.
So, in August of 2012, Paul started to write his first book. Large parts are a direct adaptation of the original script, but he also took the opportunity to make a few changes and to completely rewrite the ending.
Eventually, having overcome problems with printers and an inability to spell properly, we find ourselves bang up to date and wondering if there is anything else to write about Paul which would be remotely interesting. Sadly, the answer to that particular question is a resounding 'no', which kind of finishes off this section quite neatly.
