During that time I met many other WV artisans, but judging from their accents, they weren't natives. We became friends and nearly thirty years later I began interviewing them to find out what brought them to the state. The stories were fascinating and led me to dig further into the back-to-the-land movement and the "hippie" revolution. After two years of interviews, lots of research, and two years of writing, their stories and the movement are revealed in Hippie Homesteaders; Arts, Crafts, Music, and Living on the Land in West Virginia.(less)
