When writing Taking Up Space, given the many complicated plots in the story, I often found myself processing the story while driving at work and trying to figure out how I could make the plots work together. When the idea finally came to me for each problem, I'd send an email to myself so I could know what to work on when I got home. Writer's block is part of the challenge of writing, and in a way, it makes it more interesting.(less)

Each character has their abilities and inabilities, and I like to see how they will figure out the solution to a task. Writing is like having a conversation with interesting people you wouldn't otherwise get to meet, and you get to do so in a world you control.(less)
