Hi everyone! I’m looking for ARC readers for my first novel, Velvet Blade: Requiem for Captivity.
Azarêa is given by her father to a powerful ruler, Sayyid al-Nar, a man who believes everything can be possessed, understood, and controlled.
She becomes the one thing he cannot fully possess.
Velvet Blade is a dark, mythic literary novel about what happens when control meets something it cannot contain. Their relationship becomes a confrontation between power and instinct, possession and freedom, and the part of a human being that refuses to belong to anyone.
There is sensuality, mysticism, ritual, violence, the ancient world, and a world of women shaped by inherited knowledge and their own ways of surviving.
It isn’t a conventional romance. And although the story unfolds in an ancient world, I think of it less as historical fiction than as a myth, a story about two forces meeting, colliding, and leaving neither unchanged.
