Somewhere between a locked-room mystery and an unreliable narrator—and Goodreads seemed like the safest place to hide in plain sight. As for what a “nice girl” is doing here: in my line of work, she usually knows where the secrets are buried.

Vera, In one of the group threads, you suggested I read In the Woods by Tana French. Well, I finished it tonight and wow! What a book. I didn't think a police procedural could or would be so well written. Not only so, but also a story that lingers in the mind and invites considerable afterthought. She writes such a deep and rich story that the book begs to be re-read almost immediately just to pick up on all the nuances that one misses the first time around. Thanks so much for the recommendation.
