I am an art historian and history professor at the University of Georgia, where I teach courses in museum studies and material culture (basically, old things). I write about late nineteenth century America. I love cities, especially New York.

As a human, I am your typical nerd: I like cats, scifi/fantasy, curling up with a good book, and digging in the archives. Librarians and archivists are some of my favorite people.
