Steve spent his childhood waiting for a radioactive spider bite or a freak lab accident that never came. While he never developed the ability to fly or scale walls, he eventually discovered a different kind of power: storytelling.

The shift happened when his son, Ryan, exhausted Steve’s entire mental library of DC and Marvel lore. When the stories ran out, Ryan gave a simple command: "Then make some up!" That spark led to the creation of Cockroach, a hero born from father-son brainstorming sessions and perfected through years of readings at grade schools, where Steve earned the title "The Superhero Dad."
