È stato difficile perché ho dovuto scavare a fondo nelle sue paure, rendendolo vulnerabile. Come autore, tendi a voler proteggere i tuoi personaggi, ma per farli crescere devi lasciarli soffrire. Scrivere quel momento di rottura è stato emotivamente faticoso, ma necessario per il viaggio che compie.

Without giving away too many spoilers, I’d say the most challenging scene was around the middle of the book, when the protagonist has to face his greatest failure. It was tough because I had to dig deep into his fears and make him truly vulnerable. As an author, you want to protect your characters, but to make them grow, you have to let them suffer. Writing that breaking point was emotionally taxing, but essential for the journey he's on.(less)

Non volevo una magia senza regole; volevo qualcosa che avesse un costo reale per chi la usa. Ogni volta che il protagonista attinge a quel potere, c'è una conseguenza fisica o morale. Questo rende ogni scelta molto più sofferta e, spero, molto più avvincente per chi legge!

That's one of my favorite parts of the process! I'm particularly proud of the laws governing my world. I didn't want magic without rules; I wanted something with a real cost for those who use it. Every time the protagonist taps into that power, there's a physical or moral consequence. This makes every choice much more difficult and, I hope, much more compelling for the reader!(less)
