Because I had natural jet-black hair, I was told several times at auditions for television roles in Australia that I looked American. Rather than moving to Los Angeles, I returned to studying law. Would I now be waiting tables in LA, hoping to get a break like many people I met in 1996 in Los Angeles? Would I have written my novel, The Flower Bed, had I moved to Los Angeles?(less)
