A Slip of the Keyboard by Terry Pratchett

Hilarious, serious, and enlightening. This was my first Terry Pratchett book. It's the type of book that makes you want to vow to read everything he's ever written. Then you become glad you didn't actually make that vow when you realize how much stuf ...more

When Hitler Took Cocaine and Lenin Lost His Brain by Giles Milton

This would make a good book to randomly pick up and read a chapter whenever you are in the mood. It goes through bits of interesting, but seemingly forgotten pieces of history. A few I had known well, but most were stories that I couldn't recall, and ...more

The Human Superorganism by Rodney Dietert

The topic (the importance of a balanced microbiome in humans) is interesting. Unfortunately, the author makes too many audacious claims for my taste, while not actually backing them up with studies. The author discusses the subject as if the science ...more

Thanks, Obama by David Litt

This gives a nice glimpse of the Obama White House from someone who was there. The book does a nice job blending Litt's personal experiences with stories from the administration itself. There are enough personal stories involving Obama himself to sat ...more
Batman by Neil Gaiman

Picked this up because Neil Gaiman wrote it. I'm certain I've never missed more references in a single place in my life. Nevertheless, I really liked what Gaiman did with this collection. I especially enjoyed A Black and White World.

Going into this, I really liked the concept. Marvel characters showing up in the 1600s is a pretty cool idea. Upon diving into it, I was amazed at how subtly Gaiman introduced and used these characters, slowly adding them into the plot. Importantly, ...more

Two comedians in New York wrote a blog about their experiences working at the concierge desk in a hotel. This is the first audiobook I've listened to that I can't imagine working in an actual print book format, as it really was performed by the two a ...more

Yes, My Accent Is Real by Kunal Nayyar
Rate this book
Clear rating
To give some credit, this book feels more like someone who wanted to share parts of his life story (from his point of view, of course), became famous, and realized he could get away with doing it, as opposed to someone who got famous and decided he w ...more

The Meaning of It All by Richard Feynman

Three lectures Feynman gave on science, politics, and other world issues. Feynman uses both his humor and intellect to discuss a wide range of topics. It's an interesting view into the mind of the man. He does a great job getting his views across wit ...more
