It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel. Inspired by real events - the Yorkshire Ripper in the late 70’s - and written by someone who was a young girl at the time. I loved all the characters & the story. So richly written.
Thriving in a Relationship When You Have Chronic Illness by Lisa Gray

I’m not much of a romance reader so this review may not be super fair. I liked the characters & the story. I just feel like the explicitness isn’t necessary & doesn’t add to the story. It could be why some people LIKE romances but it’s just not my th ...more

Ogden Nash
“Tonight’s December thirty-first,
Something is about to burst.
The clock is crouching, dark and small,
Like a time bomb in the hall.
Hark, it's midnight, children dear.
Duck! Here comes another year!”
Ogden Nash, Collected Verse from 1929 On

Ursula K. Le Guin
“For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”
Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia

Dallas Willard
“Our destiny is to join a tremendously creative team effort, under unimaginably splendid leadership, on an inconceivably vast plane of activity, with ever more comprehensive cycles of productivity and enjoyment.”
Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God

James Bryan Smith
“The most important aspects of our lives cannot be rushed. We cannot love, think, eat, laugh, or pray in a hurry...When we are in a hurry--which comes from overextension--we find ourselves unable to live with awareness and kindness.”
James Bryan Smith, The Good and Beautiful God: Falling in Love with the God Jesus Knows

Lisa Scottoline
“I’ve read that one out of twenty-four people is a sociopath, and if you ask me, the other twenty-three of you should be worried.”
Lisa Scottoline, Every Fifteen Minutes
