| It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel. Inspired by real events - the Yorkshire Ripper in the late 70’s - and written by someone who was a young girl at the time. I loved all the characters & the story. So richly written. | |

Something is about to burst.

Hark, it's midnight, children dear.

― Collected Verse from 1929 On
“For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”

“Our destiny is to join a tremendously creative team effort, under unimaginably splendid leadership, on an inconceivably vast plane of activity, with ever more comprehensive cycles of productivity and enjoyment.”

― The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God
“The most important aspects of our lives cannot be rushed. We cannot love, think, eat, laugh, or pray in a hurry...When we are in a hurry--which comes from overextension--we find ourselves unable to live with awareness and kindness.”

“I’ve read that one out of twenty-four people is a sociopath, and if you ask me, the other twenty-three of you should be worried.”
