I might have a faint idea, but it is like navigating in the dense fog…moreI find that writer's block occurs with me because I don't know where I'm headed. I might have a faint idea, but it is like navigating in the dense fog hoping that what your looking for will suddenly appear. I deal with writer's block in two ways. One, I let the story be. That means if I don't write anything for a week or two, so be it - let it simmer, but all the while thinking about the story and asking questions to yourself about who is your protagonist/antagonist/plot, who or what do they stand for and what they are really about? Is what I have written really what I'm trying to achieve. I find the more you ask the questions, the more the dense fog becomes lighter. Two - let go. I find as I write, an idea or detail that I am sure about that needs to be written, sometimes just needs to be removed because it is no longer organic to the story and characters. It becomes forced and doesn't have the same appeal as it did in my head so long ago.(less)
