“You are the little storm hanging over my head no matter where I go, and somehow I became addicted to your rain."
Slowly, with intent to inflict a little pain, I dragged my eyes from his finger on my chest to his lips hovering so closely to mine. "Then drown in it."
And he would.”

“On the edge of the bank, barely peeking out from the oak trees to drink from the lake, a white horned ash dragon kneeled. And my breath didn’t return.
The sun reflected off his white, ashy scales like opal. Two horns curled up from his head, sitting right above eyes as dark as the night sky. Truly born from the heavens, the world shook with each step he took. Massive and majestic, he wandered there as everything I knew him to be. Strong, terrifying, weird, but beautiful. It wasn’t every day we saw dragons, and I hadn’t seen Indo in so long it felt brand new, as if I were a child discovering magic for the first time.”

“Is that an aurora canine?"
Following where she looked, I'd be damned if there weren't an aurora canine. They weren't common pets, but nobody could deny that onyx-purple coat, the mane around the face with hidden voltage. Aurora canines are a bit like dogs, but extremely territorial and protective. Their fur conducts bolts of static shocks to use in defense if needed.
Named after the witch that accidentally created them, they actually belong to a family of four, each hiding a different magic within their mane: voltage, flames, ice, and shadows.”
