First, whenever I have a moment of inspiration, or any idea, I write it in my note app on my phone or speak it into my phone immediately. Just a line that will be a bread crumb to bring me back. There have been so many times I thought I would remember but I just could not bring back that feeling. This helps fend off writers block, where I am trying too hard to force an idea.
The second thing I do is try to visualize my self digging for diamonds in the dark. Some days and weeks feel as though I am chipping away with no hope of finding a way forward and then I hit on something and it is so precious. If I can remember that, it helps me get through the daily grind of chipping, chipping, chipping in the dark.
