Aunt Eugenie always compare Florence to Sophia saying how Sophia is always better, prettier and smarter than Florence. In the house, Florence always think someone is looking after her. One time, she heard someone whisper in her ear saying "Florence.." Soon, she found out Sophia is haunting the crutch field hall. Sophia is always scaring Florence making her uncomfortable. Florence found out Sophia younger brother James is very ill. Florence doesn't know if she should be friends or stay away from Sophia. Florence decided to talk to Sophia and ask her what's going on. Soon, she found out that Sophia is very selfish, conceited and thinks James should be the one that die instead of her. Sophia always threaten Florence and always say that Aunt Eugenie likes her so much more than Florence. Sophia also told Florence that a charm is in James room and that's why she couldn't enter James room. Sophia threatens Florence to remove the charm from James room. Florence had no choice but to obey her order. Soon James wake up weak. When James were awake, Sophia grab him and brought him up to the rooftop and Florence follow after them. On the rooftop, Sophia told James to jump down the building. James were crying and begging Sophia to go away. Sophia scream at James and said that " I shouldn't have die. It was you that supposed to be the one that died." Florence told Sophia to calm down but Sophia just told her to shut up. While screaming, Sophia accidently fell down by herself and vanished. Florence and James were safe. Soon, they visit Sophia grave. James were drawing a picture while talking to Florence. After he was done, he found out that there was a girl in his picture when he didn't draw it at all. They heard whispers saying " I'm still here" and felt wind. Florence told Sophia to go away and they are not scare of her. After that, there was silence. Florence grab James hand and walk back safely to the Crutch Field house and Sophia never appear again.
What I like about the book is that it's full of mystery and full of horrors. It makes me think and couldn't control but to read more. This book wonder what's going to happen next and what will happen. It also makes a image in our head and we can image from one stage to another. I also like how every word of the book fits the whole plot and the words they use can actually make us scared. What I like about the book is how Mary Downing Hahn which is the author, use the vocabulary, wrote descriptions and explains the character.
What I don't like about the book is it creeps me out. It seems like a real life story and it is a little too short. I don't have anything that I don't like in the book because it's an amazing book. ...more "
