The Accidental Apprentice by Vikas Swarup
"Was just ok ok!😑"
The Accidental Apprentice by Vikas Swarup
" Totally agree. Some very good plot points but then too over the top and contrived. "
Patrick Moore and 5 other people liked Mediaman's review of Who Knew:
Who Knew by Barry Diller
"Barry Diller does his best to whitewash and spin his notorious career but isn't very convincing as he blames his distant parents, hidden homosexuality, and jealous coworkers on his infamous reputation. This may be an attempt at an image makeover but " Read more of this review »
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
" Well. That’s an accomplishment in reading. Hope you’re well. Should still try for a catchup- if you’re interested. "
Kingmaker by Sonia Purnell
" I like your review. Especially the final paragraph. "
A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell
"Excellent story, disappointing delivery.

How do you take a spy story of a strong female heroine with a prosthetic leg and wild adventures and make it mundane? You suck all the fun out and make it a dry, repetitive slog — aka, this book.

It wasn't *that" Read more of this review »

Anne Lamott
“You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
Anne Lamott

Nicole Yatsonsky
“Your truest friends are the ones who will stand by you in your darkest moments--because they're willing to brave the shadows with you--and in your greatest moments--because they're not afraid to let you shine.”
Nicole Yatsonsky

Chris Hadfield
“In space flight, “attitude” refers to orientation: which direction your vehicle is pointing relative to the Sun, Earth and other spacecraft. If you lose control of your attitude, two things happen: the vehicle starts to tumble and spin, disorienting everyone on board, and it also strays from its course, which, if you’re short on time or fuel, could mean the difference between life and death. In the Soyuz, for example, we use every cue from every available source—periscope, multiple sensors, the horizon—to monitor our attitude constantly and adjust if necessary. We never want to lose attitude, since maintaining attitude is fundamental to success.

In my experience, something similar is true on Earth. Ultimately, I don’t determine whether I arrive at the desired professional destination. Too many variables are out of my control. There’s really just one thing I can control: my attitude during the journey, which is what keeps me feeling steady and stable, and what keeps me headed in the right direction. So I consciously monitor and correct, if necessary, because losing attitude would be far worse than not achieving my goal.”
Chris Hadfield, An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth

Deepak Chopra
“We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other. And then this moment will have been worthwhile.”
Deepak Chopra

Viet Thanh Nguyen
“No one asks poor people if they want war. Nor had anyone asked these poor people if they wanted to die of thirst and exposure on the coastal sea, or if they wanted to be robbed and raped by their own soldiers.”
Viet Thanh Nguyen
