Names as one of Book Authority's Best Rafting Books of all-time was the author's Grand Canyon soloing memoir: Grand Distraction, Alone & Upside Down in the Grand Canyon. Bruce is a longtime whitewater boater. While still an undergraduate student, he and a partner started a small rafting outfitting company specializing in one- and two-day paddle trips on New Mexico’s Rio Grande and Rio Chama, and Colorado’s Arkansas River. He later taught whitewater rafting at both the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and San Juan College in Farmington (NM) for a combined total of about twenty years.
