I have a notebook, or I dictate ideas into my note app so there's always a running list of things to develop. If a specific idea seems like it's hitting a dead end, I leave it alone and revisit it in a few weeks or a month. I work on other things in the mean time. (less)

The Maroon Beast: Why The Self-Driving Car Won’t Work in Rhode Island

I do not want a self-driving car.

The dealership gave me a big, maroon loaner car. It’s supposed to be a high-end SUV, but it’s really a beast.

“My mom would like this car,” I think. I turn on the 80’s on satellite radio because I can’t bluetooth to connect and finish the podcast I was listening to for work.

I already miss my little zippy little stick shift with the great speakers and no other frills

“One day, the lotus spoke again. "You remember me? The flower that grows through the mud?" I did. I said as much. "Have you ever considered my significance? I'm everywhere - art, religion, nature.... Have you ever wondered why?"

... It spoke, "Nothing touches me. I radiate beauty. You can do the same."

"How?" I asked.

"Easy," it said. "I grow in a pond. I take the water and nutrients I need to grow, and let the rest sink to the bottom. What's in mud, anyway? Water, nutrients, life and a little bit of sludge. Let the sludge go like I do. Then stand tall above the leaves.”
Dawn Casey-Rowe, Don't Sniff the Glue: A Teacher's Misadventures in Education Reform

“For a kid in crisis, there is no "make it happen," only "survive today." Who am I to have the cojones to think my "critical questions" are the most important thing in this kid's life? I think of the times I was in crisis and failed to pay attention to the manila folders on my desk as an adult.”

“This day, I vow to myself to love myself, to treat myself as someone I love truly and deeply - in my thoughts, my actions, the choices I make, the experiences I have, each moment I am conscious, I make the decision I LOVE MYSELF.”
Kamal Ravikant, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It

“Surrender means cleaning the window so light can enter.”
Kamal Ravikant, Live Your Truth

“It is not giving up, it is accepting. And the light will enter. Always does.”
Kamal Ravikant, Live Your Truth

“If ever in pain, I think the best thing we can do is to create something.”
Kamal Ravikant, Live Your Truth

“Pain doesn't last. And when it's gone, we have something to show for it. Growth.”
