I will play a particular set of music which helps my mind loosen up and stay in a creati…moreI learned very early on how best to deal with writer's block. I will play a particular set of music which helps my mind loosen up and stay in a creative state while writing. Also, I usually am working on two writing projects at the same time. When I hit a wall I will switch over to the other story for awhile. My subconscious will work on the block in the other story, so when I return to the first story, I will have a workaround or a new path I hadn't seen before in the story. (less)

They will start to come to life and shar…moreBeing a writer has helped me deal with the developing characters' chatter in my head as their stories evolve. They will start to come to life and share their story with me, transitioning from subconscious to conscious thought. These characters will start to talk in my head. It's not until I begin to write their story will the characters quiet down and allow me to get some sleep. But, I will admit there are times I'm arguing with the character since I want to write the scene one way and they fight me as they want it to go in a different direction. Sadly, I cave to their will and write it their way. After all, it is their story. (less)
