Born in Guernsey, Marilyn joined the Blackpool Gazette group in the late 1960s becoming the youngest ever women’s page editor of the Lytham St. Annes Express at the age of nineteen. She later worked at a PR and publishing company in Lytham set up by her father, Harry Brown , and freelanced for national newspapers and magazines such as the Daily Mail and Woman. She spent some time in recruitment and estate agency whilst bringing up her two daughters with her husband, Les. The couple live in Lancashire spending most of their spare time with their two granddaughters in Yorkshire.
