My solution is the same for both circumstances: just write! The more a writer thinks about what (s)he wants to say the higher the likelihood that (s)he will get bogged down and ultimately stuck.

The trick is to save the editing for AFTER you've finished. Allow yourself the opportunity to put something down into words and assure yourself that you'll give it its respective analysis in due time. This way you'll keep the flow going and will give yourself less of a reason to get mired down along the way.(less)

I enjoy having multiple projects occurring concurrently because it affords me the opportunity to shift gears if I find myself burning out on one particular manuscript. Plus, ideas from one (particularly if it is significantly different in subject matter) can serve to inform the writing of the other so I try to focus on one project at a time while keeping my mind open to others I intend to pursue later on.(less)

Time to Clean

I don't want to alarm you but I have a confession to make:

My house is a mess.

Whew, that feels good to get that off of my chest! Initially, I typed: "My house is a mess right now," but I opted to remove the qualifier because, well, in truth, it's usually a mess...and I'd guess that yours probably is too--barring one of the circumstances that I'll outline below.

And I don't even mean it's mess-y--we'
