I was born in Muskegon, graduated from Bangor, and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Biology & Environmental Studies degrees.

I worked for Binder Park Zoo, Michigan Audubon, and owned Trailspotters, Fort Custer Outfitters & Gateway to Pictured Rocks Lodging.

I started hiking as a small child with my father. In college, I used Dennis Hansen's Michigan Trail Atlas & Jim DuFresnes 50 Hikes in Michigan to explore Michigan's hiking trails.

I discovered the North Country Trail and hiked across Michigan's Upper Peninsula in 1998. 2000+ miles later, I'm well invested in my lifetime goal to hike the entire trail.

I currently live in Abu Dhabi working for SeaWorld.
