Instead, I will take a break from my writing and go out and live! I try to do something fun or something that I've been putting off. When I'm completely relaxed and more at ease, ideas and breakthroughs come forward.

I find that the more relaxed I am, the less I experience writer's block. Also, the more consistent I am with my writing, the more I am able to write without interference.(less)

It's fun to be able to put it all together and it's like striking gold when the images in your mind match the words on the written page. It can be the best feeling in the world. A natural high! Can you share with us something about the book that isn’t in the blurb?

Most of the major characters have secrets to hide and there is more to them than meets the eye—-especially that Milan Rose.

Are there any secrets from the book (that aren’t in the blurb), you can share with your readers?

One secret is: that there are tongue-in-cheek little messages and a kind of "Where's Waldo?" g

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“People over forty can seldom be permanently convinced of anything. At eighteen our convictions are hills from which we look; at forty-five they are caves in which we hide.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, Bernice Bobs Her Hair

William W. Purkey
“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey

Pearl Cleage
“Loneliness is black coffee and late-night television; solitude is herb tea and soft music. Solitude, quality solitude, is an assertion of self-worth, because only in the stillness can we hear the truth of our own unique voices.”
Pearl Cleage, Deals With the Devil: And Other Reasons to Riot

Toni Morrison
“See? See what you can do? Never mind you can’t tell one letter from another, never mind you born a slave, never mind you lose your name, never mind your daddy dead, never mind nothing. Here, this here, is what a man can do if he puts his mind to it and his back in it. Stop sniveling,’ [the land] said. ‘Stop picking around the edges of the world. Take advantage, and if you can’t take advantage, take disadvantage. We live here. On this planet, in this nation, in this county right here. Nowhere else! We got a home in this rock, don’t you see! Nobody starving in my home; nobody crying in my home, and if I got a home you got one too! Grab it. Grab this land! Take it, hold it, my brothers, make it, my brothers, shake it, squeeze it, turn it, twist it, beat it, kick it, kiss it, whip it, stomp it, dig it, plow it, seed it, reap it, rent it, buy it, sell it, own it, build it, multiply it, and pass it on – can you hear me? Pass it on!”
Toni Morrison, Song of Solomon

Ernesto Quiñonez
“In America, it's where you end up that matters, not how you get there. As long as you get there, no one asks questions. You don't ask. You never ask. And if someone does ask how you got there? It's usually a harmless person who never got anything, never got out, died paying rent as he waited for God to deliver him.”
Ernesto Quinonez, Chango's Fire
