It's probably for the best. I think if you named him Kvothe, I'd legally own 15% of him. Or something like that....

Thanks for the consideration though...

Amber Hey Pat, I just got the first Serenity graphic novel by Joss Whedon. I thought if you hadnt read it yet I'd send it your way when I was done. Interested?

message 58: by Daniel

Daniel Hope still lives within me about you coming to Sweden some day so I can get signed copies of your books. I can guarantee that you will find riding a polar bear to be quite the experience.

message 57: by Daniel

Daniel Thank you! For writing your books, and for the add.

Only in very rare circumstances. But some of those circumstances should be coming up soon. Keep an eye on the blog for details.

message 54: by Cee

Cee Hi Pat,

You're in the Goodreads info slideshow (slide 28)! http://www.goodreads.com/blog/show/343-how-do-books-get-discovered-a-guide-for-publishers-and-authors-who-want. Just wanted to let you know! (:

You're awesome by the way.

message 53: by Chi-Chi

Chi-Chi A Patrick Rothfuss, you're a god, but that's beside the point. I've tried to get a hold of you through emails but never received a response; legit, you're a busy man. I just want to tell you this: one day I'll get to finally meet you!!!!! I promise! It'll be at comiccon maybe, or a workshop maybe, or at a library but it'll happen. When I do I'll bow and curtsy and that's how you'll know it's me.

...Until then I'll read your books, and then re-read them some more for inspiration! When I feel like dropping out of school I think of you and read the intro in The Name of the Wind!

<3
You are soo cool! Soo cool! And you keep me working hard to achieve my own writing goals!

Thank you...

Amber Hey Pat! I had a question to ask, that might sound kind of weird. I was browsing around the tinkers packs the other day and have become quite envious of those Talent Pins you all designed. The thing is, I dont really just want to buy one...I want to earn one, like at the Eolian style. Any chance of something like that EVER going down?

message 50: by Erin

Erin (Bluestocking Bookworm) Thanks so much for the add :)

I have to agree with you Christina, although I imagined it more in D20 (tabeltop) format. I'd kill for a campaign setting on Rothfuss' world. Time to hook up with WOTC Pat!!

message 48: by Rachael

Rachael I just voted for you in the tor readers' choice awards! Fans, you should too! Comment here: http://www.tor.com/blogs/2012/01/vote...#

Christina Patrick: Greatly enjoying your books! I must say, as I read through them I can't help but envision them as a computer game. It's the nerd in me. I would pay good money to play a RPG based on this series! Earning money, advancing through the ranks at the University, increasing skills, all necessary to complete the main quest (I don't even know what that is yet because I haven't finished book #2!).

I really betrayed my inner dork with this post but I had to share.

Keep the great books coming!!!

message 44: by Tanus

Tanus yo patrick congrats for the third place! altough i would consider it a second place because, you know, martin, first place, bla bla bla, don't let me open polemic threads on the subject..

message 43: by Rachael

Rachael Dear Pat,

You should have won a Goodreads Choice award, and there is clearly something wrong in the world (or at least on goodreads..):) Although I'd imagine being a newer writer and being in categories with vets like GRRM is a sort of honor in itself.

message 42: by Hannah

Hannah Thank you so much for adding me, Mr. Rothfuss! My parents and little sister are laughing at me right now because I'm so maniacally happy. My day just became perfect.

Thank you again, thank you for your writing, it is inspiring and beautiful and funny. Can't explain how honored I feel.

Christopher Thanks so much for adding me. Big fan of your work.

message 35: by Luke

Luke A. Hey guys on the wall! Here's a story and a question: There once was a man traveling down a long dirt road. The man walked for some miles, when suddenly his shadow lept in front of him, blocking his way. Puzzled the man tried to walk through the shadow, but every attempt ended with him starting back where he was. So the man tried going back, but again the shadow blocked his path. The man tried for three days to go forward, or back the way he had come. Finally though he sub came to his thirst and hunger, and died.
Now my question is: How do you get pass the shadow?

message 34: by Emily

Emily Thanks for adding me! Your work is inspiring and I absolutely love your blog :). I can't wait for the third Kingkiller instalment :D

message 33: by Priya

Priya Hey Pat,

pls pls pls dont be one of those authors who sets out to write a trilogy and end up writing one million books with no end to the story in sight. I cant wait for book 3 and dont fancy having to wait for book 10.
Love your work!

message 32: by Cantus

Cantus Hey Pat, thank you for adding me! Your books and your recommendation of "Just a geek" and the "Dresden files" brought me, a book-weary german lawyer, back to reading again. Bought a lot of copies of NotW in english and german and offered them to my friends and relatives...

message 31: by Toshi

Toshi I cannot thank you enough for signing my books. I've never owned a book signed by the author before, nor had I cared to till I read yours. I only hope my paltry offerings were enough to make the effort worth while.

Joseph D'Agnese Hi Pat:

Gavin Are you planning on posting your wmf fan pics?

Posthums Are you coming to Penguicon this year? (need your not a childrens book autographed if so..) Also, do you plan to have a contest with Brandon Sanderson for the largest book ever in your next book releases? :P

message 24: by Lynne

Lynne Thank you for The Name of the Wind. Thank you for The Wise Man's Fear. And thank you for loving the art of storytelling -- and for respectng your readers' intelligence and patience -- so much that you take the time and effot to craft such wonderful, complex tales. I wish I were eloquent enough to properly capture in words the effect your writing has on me.

Jennifer Hi I love your books!

message 22: by Tanus

Tanus just finished the book, and it was a damnfine pie.

message 21: by Jeremy

Jeremy Just finished up Wise Man's Fear, and thank you for delivering this continuation of one of the best stories I've ever read. My only critique is that I can't immediately pick up the next portion and continue the story. Well done sir.

message 20: by Amanda

Amanda Bentley Saw you in Lexington, Ky. It was my first book signing and I do believe that you may have ruined me...you've set the bar too high for any other author to reach. I laughed until I cried. You made it worth the 5 hour trip.

And now I really want an aquatic guinea pig.

message 19: by Matt

Matt I imagine you are right now somewhere on the other side of the equator doing some spectacular sleeping. On the arse-end of the world I am fully awake, reading The Wise Man's Fear and promptly ignoring all hails from the outside world.

It is a fantastic book and I want to thank you for writing it. Sincerely.

message 18: by Boone

Boone According to Goodreads I'm 60% of the way through NotW, but I love it 100%. OK, so that's cheesy but I like percentages. Thanks for adding me.

message 17: by Brendan

Brendan Dear Mr Rothfuss,

I pre-ordered The Wise Man's Fear from Amazon, my favorite disembodied retailer of corporeal literature, but that was, approximately, an eternity of forevers ago.

In recent days, I have been increasingly subjected to the gleeful squawkings of persons with advanced copies. So swiftly is this cloud of triumphant ululations growing, I am no longer confident in my ability to endure--in short, I am near to bursting with envy-hate.

As you are the author, I turn to you for redress. Kindly fly around the Earth to advance time two weeks (in a manner not dissimilar to the titular hero at the end of Superman, but in reverse) so Amazon might deliver my copy forthwith.

I remain,
with all excitation allowed in polite company,
Yrs sincerely,

B James
