D. Pow Loved your writing on 'Raka' and the poem in translation...

Cheers!

message 34: by Meen

Meen I had the feeling my absence was being monitored... Nice to be back. I just have to make some attempt at healthy moderation. (Hah.)

message 33: by Brad

Brad Love the title of your book, Richard. I'm going to have to track it down.

message 32: by Richard

Richard Thanks! We have fathers here too. I got a book, drawings, vinegar... riffed off that for about an hour. Then went to see my youngest daughter's choir perform. A perfect day.

message 31: by Kim

Kim Happy Father's Day, Richard...

Or is this just an American thang? Whatever, you rock! ( Hee.... )

message 30: by Jessica

Jessica Many Congrats, Richard!

message 29: by Richard

Richard Quirk and foible if you must humans, but please do so elsewhere. I'm busy enough dealing with my own.

message 28: by Matt

Matt I was poking around on your blog and found a line that I both love and identify closely with:

"De Nooy is deeply intrigued by the quirks and foibles of humanity, but does not necessarily wish to experience them at close quarters."

message 27: by Taylor

Taylor Thank you so much for taking the time to read my poems and tell me what you think! Means a lot! And i'll definitely keep what you said about rhyming in mind from now on.

message 26: by Richard

Richard I could not agree more. But perhaps that is what NYTimes readers expect or want.

Perhaps we can we lead them here.

message 25: by Jessica

Jessica Galgut gets reviewed in the NYTimes:

(much plot summary & little analysis does not a good review make)

message 24: by Heidi

Heidi Or a Sears portrait!

message 23: by Heidi

Heidi You have a twin!

message 22: by Richard

Richard Damn!

message 21: by Richard

Richard But people talk funny in Limbabwe, dude. So you lose anyway.

message 20: by Richard

Richard No windmills in Limbabwe, Dude. You lose.

message 19: by Richard

Richard Dude, I've only just begun! But am thoroughly enjoying it, because it's a cross between two of my all-time favourites: James Ellroy's My Dark Places and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.

PS: You must live in the rainy part of the city. The sun is shining in my garden.

message 18: by Richard

Richard I like what you've done with my hair.

Richard My father was a Free-Mason, who was sadly lacking in dollar bills. Perhaps that explains my choice.

I have fans! Hello, fans! Thank you, fans!

message 16: by Richard

Richard Thanks, Matt! Mark is an excellent photographer. There's a link to his site in Message 15 below.

Matthieu Terrific photo, Richard!

Richard Double Die Hard-ish! Thanks, Tad. It's from a series made by photographer Mark Kohn for the local paper when the Dutch edition of my book was launched.

message 13: by Matt

Matt Gotta tell you Richard, i'm digging the current avatar. Very "Die Hard"-ish.

message 12: by Meen

Meen Ooooh, official feels so different!

*puffs up with pride*

message 11: by Bradley

Bradley I hope you are having a good day! =)

Richard Restraining orders are unnecessary in a country where it is so easy to hide. For all I know, ABBA could have been concealed behind the nearest of 40 gazillion pine trees.

Amanda How'd that restraining order work out, by the way? It's a shame, really. ABBA is quite lovely...

message 8: by Kim

Kim Richard? Where the hell are you? Are you still in Sweden? Have you gone off and tried reuniting ABBA again? Don't they have a restraining order against you for that? What the hell?

I feel used... tossed aside...

Richard Excellent! The link below will take you to a glossary of South African and Dutch terms on my blog. Perhaps easiest to copy and paste the glossary in a Word document, and then print.
Pleasant reading!

Jeremy I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me today. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened to create so many messages. Some weird glitch.

Argh...this is terrible...

Again, I'm very sorry.

-Jeremy

Jeremy Here’s wishing you a nifty New Year filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats.

-Jeremy :)

P.S.—I’m currently offering autographed/personally-inscribed copies of my novel, Vacation, with free shipping for those in the US. If there’s anything you could do to help me spread the word about this, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to click here for details:

Jeremy Hi Richard!

Here’s wishing you a yippee-filled Yuletime overflowing with yard-long yams, yapping yoyo-yanking yetis, yak-milk yeast-cakes, and yellow yarn-yielding year-end yard-gnomes.

-Jeremy :)
