I had the feeling my absence was being monitored... Nice to be back. I just have to make some attempt at healthy moderation. (Hah.)
Thanks! We have fathers here too. I got a book, drawings, vinegar... riffed off that for about an hour. Then went to see my youngest daughter's choir perform. A perfect day.
Quirk and foible if you must humans, but please do so elsewhere. I'm busy enough dealing with my own.
I was poking around on your blog and found a line that I both love and identify closely with:"De Nooy is deeply intrigued by the quirks and foibles of humanity, but does not necessarily wish to experience them at close quarters."
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my poems and tell me what you think! Means a lot! And i'll definitely keep what you said about rhyming in mind from now on.
I could not agree more. But perhaps that is what NYTimes readers expect or want.Perhaps we can we lead them here.
Galgut gets reviewed in the NYTimes:http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/07/boo...
(much plot summary & little analysis does not a good review make)
Dude, I've only just begun! But am thoroughly enjoying it, because it's a cross between two of my all-time favourites: James Ellroy's My Dark Places and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood.PS: You must live in the rainy part of the city. The sun is shining in my garden.
My father was a Free-Mason, who was sadly lacking in dollar bills. Perhaps that explains my choice.I have fans! Hello, fans! Thank you, fans!
Double Die Hard-ish! Thanks, Tad. It's from a series made by photographer Mark Kohn for the local paper when the Dutch edition of my book was launched.
Restraining orders are unnecessary in a country where it is so easy to hide. For all I know, ABBA could have been concealed behind the nearest of 40 gazillion pine trees.
Richard? Where the hell are you? Are you still in Sweden? Have you gone off and tried reuniting ABBA again? Don't they have a restraining order against you for that? What the hell? I feel used... tossed aside...
Excellent! The link below will take you to a glossary of South African and Dutch terms on my blog. Perhaps easiest to copy and paste the glossary in a Word document, and then print.Pleasant reading!

I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me today. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened to create so many messages. Some weird glitch.Argh...this is terrible...
Again, I'm very sorry.
-Jeremy
Here’s wishing you a nifty New Year filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats. -Jeremy :)
P.S.—I’m currently offering autographed/personally-inscribed copies of my novel, Vacation, with free shipping for those in the US. If there’s anything you could do to help me spread the word about this, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to click here for details:
