Joseph Thanks Chad! :)

Joseph Please go ahead and send it Nickolaus....now believe it or not, I'm not too familiar with Richard Matheson's writing...the only book of his I read being the one he co-wrote with Andre Norton....

Joseph Just got my writer's copies of "Tricks of the Trade - Magical Gay Erotica" edited by Jerry L. Wheeler from the good folks at Bold Strokes Books a few days ago.
In the pages of Jerry's newest anthology are stories by Jeff Mann, Lewis DeSimone, Rob Rosen, Jay Neal, Xavier Axelson, Todd Gregory, 'Nathan Burgoine, Dale Chase, Mel Bossa,Ralph Seligman, William Holden, Logan Zachary, and myself.
I wrote "Old Fashioned Expectations," during a two week period in the end of March 2012 while my Mom was in the hospital recovering from two heart attacks.
Yep, for the title, I used a verse from the Goonies theme song sung by Cyndi Lauper.
The flashback in the story incorporates an unsual occurance from my childhood - Mom and Dad gave me a magic set and after practicing, I performed the "Disappering Ball" trick from them. Only the ball never came back. Dad examined the container and set, and after a brief consultation with Mom, they took the magic set away, fearful that something malevolent was at work. [Dad had been a snake-handling Primitive Southern Baptist before he coverted to Judaism to marry Mom.]
I also incorporated elements of my short, three year career as a journalist, and my on-going career as a freelance writer into the story.
Special thanks to my good friend Greg Appelt who suggested that I make my magician a red-haired Greek man.
Also special thanks go out to Jerry L. Wheeler for asking me to contribute to his latest anthology with a host of wonderfuly talented writers. It's an honor to have a story of mine among theirs!
