Lydia Yes! I have lots and lots of recommendations! Do you still have The Book Whisperer? Check out pg. 194 for Miller's "Ultimate Library List" she's divided it into genre. It's a great place to start. If you don't still have the text, I can PDF it and send it to you. Let me know.

Off the top of my head:
-Anything by Andrew Clements (ex. Frindle, School Story)
-Anything by E.L. Konigsburg (ex. The View from Saturday)
-Anything by Gary Paulsen (especially for BOYS) (ex. Hatchet)
-All things Jerry Spinelli (Star Girl is one of my favorites EVER!)
-All things Cornelia Funke (ex. The Thief Lord)
-All things Rick Riordan (ex. The Lightening Thief)
-The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
-All things Pam Munoz Ryan (ex. Esperanza Rising)
-All things Lois Lowery (ex. The Giver)
-All things Jane Yolen (she has written a ton of picture books too, so look for her chapter books (ex. Here There Be Dragons))

Hope this is a good jumping off point.

Jamie Hi Lydia! I was wondering if you have any recommendations for 4th graders! I'm stuck. Just all types of chapter books really. They have a variety of interests. I'm not sure where to start looking! We all miss you this semester! Thanks!

Lindsay Hi Lyd, How fun is this? Let's try to start reading the same books at the same time--especially since you have all the time in the world to read :-) Love, Fred
