Nobody Thanks for the friend invite Will. I didn't move to my current location willingly ; its the worse place I've lived and I am the adventurous type. I cannot wait to move back and be part of civilization again.

Thanks very much, and for you as well!

Jacob I was going to embark on a chronological read of short bios, to start with, but that never happened. I'll probably continue my habit of reading whatever bio catches my eye at the moment--mostly Theodore Roosevelt ones, so far, but I need to give the Garfield one another try--meant to get to it after reading about his assassination, but never found the time. Hopefully next year.

Spiro T. Agnew! And someone else. Plus all the other White House pets (didn't one president have a crocodile?) and other weird bits of trivia. Fer example, didja know two of John Tyler's grandsons are still alive? Just learned that a few weeks ago. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/...

It's a slippery slope. Soon you won't get the same emotional bump from that, and you'll slide into chronological reads of 700pg bios, VP triva (what two VP's resigned? Which served two different presidents?), dog names (one was named Veto), and you'll find yourself in some dank and shadowy den of inequity, and the glare from a passing police light will momentarily reveal the faces of other dark travelers near you; Michael Beschloss! Doris Kearns Goodwin! My God, I've become....a Presidential Historian!

Jacob So I decided to give myself a pop quiz today and list all the Presidents in order + the dates they were elected (or assumed the office following a death/assassination), and I got all of them right except Coolidge (couldn't remember what year Harding died) and Ford (couldn't remember when Nixon resigned--74 or 75). Everyone else I aced. This feels good.

trivialchemy Thanks for the note and the add, Will.

Scribble Orca Will, thank you very kindly. Looking forward to sharing books and opinions.

TK421 Thanks for the friend request; but be warned: my reading is eclectic, to say the least. And, yes, I really, really adore Kooser.

You can blame Proustitute for this. After finding several books I was interested in, I'd find they were on his to-read list. So I threatened, and eventually followed through on beginning a survey of his massive list. I'm up to page 17 of around 70. More to come, I fear.

Mikela Will, just when I started to bring my TBR list under control you had to introduce me to yet another slew of what appear to be wonderful books.

That's really cool, although I think not wonderful for the books. I've got a zillion things on Pintrest (addictive) but never seen that. Yeah, it's likely I'll move into a small house...someplace...sometime.

Richard Will, Thanks for accepting the friend request! I share your taste for the classics, in literature as well as art and music.
