Jeremy Here’s wishing you a nifty New Year filled with noiseless noses, neato nicknames, noble Nebraskans, gnarly narcoleptic nebulas, and novel novels about nut-eating narwhals and novercaphobic gnats.

-Jeremy :)

P.S.—I’m currently offering autographed/personally-inscribed copies of my novel, Vacation, with free shipping for those in the US. If there’s anything you could do to help me spread the word about this, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to click here for details:

Kimberly hi Daniel.

How are you holidays going? Mine are going well, I still hope to go sledding, it's still snowy outside. Apparently it may snow later today or tomorrow in the morning. I'm excited.

Happy (early) New Year!

message 128: by Ana

Ana The Belgian Congo sounds amazing :-) I wouldn't have known any of its history without the book. Have a great day!

Jeremy Hi Daniel!

Here’s wishing you a yippee-filled Yuletime overflowing with yard-long yams, yapping yoyo-yanking yetis, yak-milk yeast-cakes, and yellow yarn-yielding year-end yard-gnomes.

-Jeremy :)

Massimiliano Mauriello Hi Daniel,

thank you again for your very interesting book !

Good to know you visited and wandered all over Italy years ago.

It's a country full of great places, towns and fine arts deserving to be visited and admired.

Which places and artistic works did you particularly like ?

Have a great week end.

Finest regards

Max

Jeremy Hi Daniel!

If you don't mind sharing--I was wondering, what's your favorite novel of all time?

Here’s wishing you a fantastic day filled with fabulous friendships, fanciful festivities, and frolicking phantom footstools.

-Jeremy :)

April Daniel is a voracious reader and a really useful person to have as a Goodreads friend! (His update feeds are fabulous.)

message 118: by Grace (last edited Aug 25, 2016 02:13PM)

Grace Apologies, Daniel, I only now saw the comment you left for me! Drat my lack of GoodReads skillz!

In any case, I too am fascinated by the Round Towers in Ireland. I've only seen pictures of them (having never been there myself!) but they are quite lovely. They remind me of the secret "tower" in an episode of the short-lived tv show ROAR if you ever saw it.

Thanks again!

message 117: by Ann (last edited Aug 25, 2016 02:11PM)

Ann Marshall That's good. I can only hope my literary taste is as good as yours!

Dan Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the link to your book. I noticed that you were born in Newark, NJ, which is where I grew up. I'm reading a novel set in 1967 Newark called The Lightning Rule. It's quite good and you might enjoy it.

Dan

message 112: by Avanders (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:53PM)

Avanders Daniel, I've definitely read all of Rowling's books... and many of King's, though certainly not all. I used to collect Kings :) Thanks for the comment - hope all is well!

message 111: by Pejman (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:53PM)

Pejman Hi Daniel, first of all thanks for your comment, but, surely you know that Nietzsche said we, human, killed him, i mean God. aren't you agree with this attitude? i can not remember world war II but probably you can. yes dear we killed him, technology, capitalism, and so on, these killed him. It is not important that god is dead or not, the important thing is believe in God as a symbol of Honesty and Humanity.

message 110: by Audrey (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:49PM)

Audrey Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the welcoming comment... Austin is a great city to live in! I'm interested in hearing more about your book and will definitely take a look when it's online. Does it have a pub date?

Robin Hi! I'm glad that was helpful. I'm also glad to see that you're not one of those snobs who shuns the unabashed Sidney Sheldon readers!

Lintang Suryaningtyas Hi Daniel,
I'm trying to finish-up reading all of those "The Cat Who..."s.
And hey.. you are a writer..!! I should read your writings, then. And learn how to write a good one as well.

Patrick Doyle Hello Daniel. Thanks for adding me as a friend. You have some great books listed. When you have a moment check out the series I'm currently working on (edgarfont.com). I look forward to sharing ideas and reviews with you. ~patrick

message 96: by Erica (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:35PM)

Erica Cameron LoL! Thank you for the warning! Luckily, I don't spend much time outside. I've gotten a handful of sunburns in my life (it's almost unavoidable living here), but I've managed to stay pretty pale most of the time. ;)

message 95: by Rachel (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:34PM)

Rachel Smith I like Michaelangelo because he was a real drama queen. He didn't want to paint the ceiling at first. When Pope Julius told him to do it, Michaelangelo fled and became a fugitive for years. Finally he gave up and came out of hiding because he knew he couldn't run away forever. There's a moral in this story.

message 94: by Shannon (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:32PM)

Shannon Thanks, Daniel for the vote of confidence in my writing. I actually entertained fanciful notions of becoming a physicist at a time before I accepted my lack of an aptitude for deciphering differential equations. I still believe that math is the language of the gods and reserve the utmost respect for those who have achieved mathematical fluency.

message 93: by Hebz (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:31PM)

message 91: by Daniel (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:29PM)

Daniel I'm afraid I'm right, Maria and you are wrong!
Click the link below:

http://www.world66.com/europe/germany... (It says:)

For German people the name Lüneburg is closely associated with the term Heide (heather). This association is correct, it really exists here, the "Lüneburger Heide". In spite of its name, the exceptional heather landscape is only approximately half an hour drive away from the city.

message 90: by Maria (last edited Aug 25, 2016 01:29PM)

Maria Daniel, I don't think you're right in saying that Heidi is the German version of Heather. The name Heather is derived from the plant heather, and Heidi is a diminutive of Adelheid, or Adelaide, which has a totally different origin. See here: http://www.behindthename.com/name/ade...
