MON!CA JEAN! I have only read few of the books you are right. All for the reason that I wanted to wait till they were all out to read them now its SOOO BIG and everyone I know is still talking about them and I'm waiting for it to die out. I'm tired of being in class and people saying" Oh have you got to this part ...." and giving it away. I do indeed like them though.

message 178: by Steffi

Steffi That's too bad. I'm a vegetarian becuase I don't like the way animals are treated in meat and dairy farms. Different reasons, but glad you're saving the cows anyways!

message 177: by Jen

Jen Thank you! I was very happy in the picture, it was taken atop the Eiffel Tower and it was my first time in Paris :) Very cute grandkids!

message 176: by Brian

Brian Harrison Hello Daniel. I just finished Jarod Diamond's "Collapse." Full of solid ideas, but a little dry. Overall, worth my time. Some friends had suggested "Guns, Germs, and Steel" but I chose to read "Collapse" first. Perhaps I will give the other a glance.

Massimiliano Mauriello Hi Daniel,

thank you again for your book you sent me; I'm really determined to read it, because it is very interesting and my favorite field is non-fiction !

So, I'm sure I'll devote some time to enjoy your book.

Finest regards

Max

message 161: by C

C I like any snarky politician-I think McCain would be like a Churchill in the White House;) My favorite non-politician talking about politics was Roy Rogers though.

Love this one by Reagan too:
"Politics is a great profession. If you disgrace yourself you can write a book."

Speaking of which Obama's speech tonight was rather inspiring-made me proud to be a Chicago-in.

Check ya later silv-o fox!

message 160: by Santh

Santh memories Dear GranPa ^_^

and thank you for the free book, too!

message 159: by C

C Hey Grandpa Dan, lol-I love your quotes, and the fact that you read Churchill, books on Hitler and Sex in the City, lol...I love Churchill too.

message 158: by Katie

Katie That may possibly be because that was a horrible book, and I read it in comparison to Lady Chatterly's Lover which was amazing.

message 154: by Jeremy

Jeremy I want to apologize for the all the recommendations from me today. I wanted to share the Stoker Award news, and I only pressed the send button once--I'm not sure what happened to create so many messages. Some weird glitch.

Argh...this is terrible...

Again, I'm very sorry.

-Jeremy

Hippo dari Hongkong Give me a man or woman who has read a thousand books and you give me an interesting companion. Give me a man or woman who has read perhaps three and you give me a dangerous enemy indeed.
- Anne Rice-
Indeed you have read a thousand book. Well, i mean almost a thousand but you'll get there:)
Indeed you are an interesting companion Mr Daniel :)

Happy Reading!

message 144: by De'Shawn

message 143: by Ksenia

Ksenia Hi! Thanks for your invitation!

message 142: by Shannon

Shannon I've been unmasked :) Hope you have a great weekend!

message 141: by Suzanna

Suzanna I read it when I was younger and I remember finding the first half of it painfully slow and uneventful. However, somewhere towards the middle, I started to sense the intensity of the mood being created and I was touched by the beauty within all the dysfunction. There was a line in the movie "Original Sin" where Jolie says:
"This isn't a love story, but it is a story about love." That is what I remember of Wuthering Heights.

message 140: by Madison

Madison Daniel-

I never thanked you for your amazingly kind comments you left me a while ago- Better late than never, so THANK YOU! They truly mean a lot to me :)

I hope you are having a wonderful new year so far!

Madison

message 139: by Charissa

Charissa here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

-e e cummings

Elleonora Tambunan Thanks Daniel! :)

message 137: by Alyssa

Byrd Alyssa Atlas Shrugged scored points with me not for how much I loved Rand's writing, or even her philosophy, but, for its ability to enliven my internal dialogue regarding class, democracy, citizenship, duty and capitalism. For me, a great book is not always a book whose writing is stellar in the literary sense, or even engaging from the get go (though these are, alas, coveted traits...), but a book that challenges accepted doctrines and practices enabling ones world perspectives to expand.
Cheerios!

message 136: by Imey

Imey Juliant thanks Daniel,.... :)
