V. Pain "However, this very fact constitutes the opportunity of the future Negro novelist and poet to give the country something new and unknown, in depicting the life, the ambitions, the struggles, and the passions of those of their race who are striving to break the narrow limits of traditions."
- from The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man This ends a two paragraph account of gospel on the "Negro experience" He compares it to being an actor, stuck doing tragedies. {PREACH} This passage is a chilling foretelling of the lives many people of the demographic now lead... #Wakeup

V. Pain Why do I keep using the words coming of age and actualization? Occasionally, we recoil from the sting of growing pains, but still we must go forward. It's just like a child who hates going to bed. Each day winds down to that dreaded moment. Little by little the child will become creative, cunning, and even desperate to avoid this moment. No matter what they invent, reality remains, the day is ending and bedtime's beginning. Eventually, they learn the time is inevitable. But it may take a few chastenings before they comply...
The same is true of life, you may struggle with each change necessary to become responsible for yourself. (Bucking parental advice, tradition, and good sense altogether!) At some point, all the ways you hit your head are supposed to culminate, shaping behavior, encouraging maturity....
That is just the first step in actualization.
So don't ge me wrong, I am not yet the wise one I hope to someday be, but some of the paths I have walked, I know I shall never return.

Still reading Kwame's Passage by Jerry Sarkwah Kwame's Passage by Jerry Sarkwah

I highlighted "After all I had learnt he has been repeated three times in this class; now his new name is 'Father' and could be heard on the lips of every little child in the school." This made me laugh out loud! I felt akin to children who would do this, kids are cruel all over the world...CUTE and ironic!
