Ken When I wrote my latest fiction novel, Chimera [theme: the genetic creation of previously-extinct hunting trophies for wealthy collectors/poachers of illicit endangered species ... and the requisite hunting down the bad guys], I was thinking it was an interesting --- but decidedly far-fetched --- sci-fi plot that would remain far-fetched and sci-fi for many years to come. But after reading the latest issue of National Geographic Magazine, I'm no longer thinking in terms of "many years." Bad news for us wildlife forensic scientists who have enough trouble dealing with the ever-growing list of still-living endangered species without having to take on newly created or no-longer-extinct critters. Sigh ...
