Amber Tucker Yes, the 'mo' is awesome! Heehee. I bet that was fun. I am quite envious.

message 60: by Brad

Brad I thought I should post the results of my Movember. Glad you like it.

message 59: by Jacob

Jacob Oh yeah, I saw that a few days ago. Made a mental note to read & comment, but then I spilled some mental coffee and completely forgot. Thanks for the reminder!

message 58: by Brad

Brad I got my computer back, finally. Weeee! Lots of reviews and stuff to catch up on.

message 57: by Joy

Joy Brad, how was Jackass 3? I saw the clip where he dances around in the mud to the song You can't rollerskate in a buffalo herd - funny scene! I added that song to my blog. I hadn't thought of Roger Miller in ages!

message 56: by Joy

Joy Have fun with the Jackasses! I think it's in 3D! ;)

message 55: by Brad

Brad I haven't, Joy, though I want to badly. I am curious about the Town too, but I have a confession to make: I am going to see Jackass 3 tomorrow, before both of those movies. Yikes, eh? No excuses, though. I can't help loving Knoxville and the silly boys.

message 54: by Joy

Joy Have you seen The Social Network yet? I want to see The Town first...

message 53: by Brad

Brad I love it! It's like Star Wars porn for geeks. Keep bringing on the menace, you Phantom C.

Just a little miscellaneous geekery for you."

That's hilarious! Love the geekery.

Brad Joy wrote: "Hey Brad, thought you'd be interested in this news..."

I missed this post somehow, Joy, sorry. I'm not sure how I feel about this news. I don't really know that actress yet, but this makes me even more interested in Fincher's next movie, The Social Network, so that I can see her in action.

message 50: by Brad

Brad I can't wait to hear your reports, Leah. I can live vicariously through you.

Mostly on Storygraph I start my first class today. I'll have to bore you with the syllabi once I get all of them. Hoping I'm not taking on too much at once.

I'll reply to your e-mail later this week when I actually have something to report!

Love to you and the fam,
L

message 48: by Joy

Joy Hey Brad, thought you'd be interested in this news -

http://insidemovies.moviefone.com/201...

I've never heard of her. Have you read the Hornet's Nest one yet? I liked it a lot!

message 47: by Brad

Brad Nope. And not going to be anytime soon. I'll write you the whys.

message 46: by Stephen

Stephen Hey there! Are you indeed Ph.D. as of this writing?

message 45: by D.

D. Pow Hey, Brad! I've been out of town at the San Diego Comic Con. Don't ask! But I did come back with an autographed Mieville and an autographed picture of Grace Park. Beast that I am, I am having an intense debate about which means more to me.

And then I came home and lo and behold I've received an autographed Simkulet book as well.

Thanks so much and I will start reading soon. Hope all is well in that New Found Land.

message 44: by M

M I hope you enjoy it at least as much as I did!

message 43: by D.

D. Pow Dude(and Ceridwen too), have you seen the cinematics on this one:

http://screenrant.com/star-wars-old-r...

Why do people other than Lucas make it so much damn better?

message 42: by Brad

Brad No, no, C. Keep it up. I love that you're my facilitator for all things geeky. And now others like Esteban are joining. Sweet.

message 41: by Esteban

Esteban del Mal I want a piece of the Star Wars linkage:

message 40: by Brad

Brad No. I think nerdy goes without saying...for us both.

message 39: by Brad

Brad I did miss it. I'll go and check it out tonight, but first there is family Trivial Pursuit to finish. Thanks for the Dragon Quest tip. I'm going to check it out now.

message 38: by David (last edited Jun 02, 2010 02:48PM)

David Katzman Yo, S-man. I made a comment on your Star Wars thread that left the impact of a pin drop. Perhaps you missed it as it cross-posted, sandwiched by your encyclopediac debate with Team Star Wars?

I just read a graphic novel Dungeon Quest: Book 1 by Joe Daly from Fantagraphics. It was weird and funny as hell. Like Dungeons & Dragons on crack. I think you'd dig it.

I'm trying to plan a trip to Europe so I've been reading travel guides from the library.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

message 33: by Brad

Brad Last Temptation of Christ is sufficiently water stained from me doing dishes. How about you, Joy?

message 32: by Joy

Joy Hi Brad, read any good books while washing the dishes lately?

message 31: by Brad

Brad Glad to hear you're working hard. That's a good reason for fried brains, brother.

message 30: by David

David Katzman ahah! i'm a flake. plus my brain has been fried recently by work. oh well. i guess i don't need it too much.

message 29: by David

David Katzman hey! did you ever get my book? I'm going to be reading your next. cheers.

message 28: by Stephen

Stephen Well Brad, it digs you too.

message 27: by David

David Katzman yay! Got your check too, thanks! haven't made it to the bank yet. :-) your book is on the top of my pile as soon as i get back to fiction.

message 26: by David

David Katzman it'd be bought.

Brad David wrote: "brad, brad. my first tip on making money as a self-publisher is to tell people how to buy the book when they ask you how to buy it. :-P"

I am a knob. I meant to get back to you about that, David. I don't even remember what distracted me now, but then I completely forgot to come back. And you're right...I should.

The preferred mode is to buy from Amazon or Indigo. I think it is great that you have your own imprint to re-establish.

message 24: by David

David Katzman brad, brad. my first tip on making money as a self-publisher is to tell people how to buy the book when they ask you how to buy it. :-P

message 23: by David (last edited Oct 17, 2009 09:09PM)

David Katzman Dude! I have no idea why i never noticed your collection before! I be dubm. I take it...self-published by the iUniverse moniker. What is your preferred mode of purchase? Direct from you? Amazon?

I'm going to pursue a publisher for my 2nd book but will self-publish again if i don't find one. However, i do not think i'll go POD--i will likely re-establish my Bedhead Books imprint again. Note the book i'm reading, right now, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51...

i'm catching up on the process and the latest techniques.

message 22: by Stephen

Stephen Hi Brad.

message 21: by Ruby

Ruby Emam Hi, Brad.
Did you get a chance to read The Little Black Fish? I see that I have attracted some attention from the group members. I am looking forward to your comments considering that although the book is for children yet, the author has wonderfully inserted messages in the story which shows a path only uderstandable by advanced readers and adults (in most cases).
I see many discussions posted for different books listed in this category and they are great discussions. But none asked me this question: "How can a children's book have "political" contents and be "banned?" Please tell me what you think.
Thanks a lot,

message 20: by Stephen

Stephen That sounds like a damn good reason to buy a Rilke

message 19: by Stephen

Stephen Better late than never.

message 18: by Brad

Brad I will be forty. Perfect time to run with the bulls.

Meredith Ok...July 2011.

The Pamplona Running of the Bulls is a part of the San Fermin Festival, which runs in Pamplona from July 6 to July 14 each year.

message 16: by Brad

Brad My vow: I will read 7 books from my massive pile of books to read before I buy another book (and I will keep that up until I am down to one shelf of books), though I reserve the right to mooch books or receive them as gifts ;)

message 15: by David

David Katzman wow. i wonder if everyone on GR had a Jurassic attack. Perhaps it's a marketing ploy!

message 14: by David

David Katzman Can you perhaps explain to me why in my most recent Feed update email 6 people in a row (including you) posted ratings for Jurassic Park?

sorry, but wtf??? Did i miss Jurassic Park week?
