can't combine book with translated version

The primary author needs to be the same on both books. I switched the authors, combined the editions and switched the authors back to fit the cover.

Actually, that's not a good idea. It messes up author page displays and can make the editions separate spontaneously when the primary author is not the same for all editions. I switched the order back.

Ok, that is good to know, sorry for producing extra work.

So I guess when I stumble across different author orders for different editions it would be wise to rearrange them in the future, regardless of what the cover etc. of a specific edition says?

That's what I do, if they need to be combined...but make sure the name on the cover is listed as an author, too.
