Multiple Authors with same name ?

I have reported this before, but either it was never fixed or it is screwed up again.

There is a note in this profile for a Lillian Grant saying that There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name then when I click the link, there is no other lillian grant listed on that page that I can see.

Then there is this Lillian Grant - the one I was looking for - but she doesn't come up when you search the "add book/author" function above the comment box. The other one comes up.

Also, this profile for a Lillian Grant has books listed that belong to the other profile.

The link in the note was to the old system, I removed the link from the note.
The other problem is that the Goodreads author has the two space profile. Automatic imports or user who don't know about this will add the books with only one space, so it isn't a thing you can fix once and never having errors again.
I moved the 3 books to the right profile.

i thought that was to the old system...last updated in 2010 :-)

That's probably better written as "two-space profile." When there are multiple authors with the same name, extra spaces are added between first and last, to differentiate between them. If someone just types in the author name as normal, then it will end up mis-attributed.

huh... ok, is there any way to change it so that this "Lillian Grant" Lillian Grant comes up when typed with 1 space? This author has more books, is a GR author and seems to be someone that members would look for more frequently than Lillian Grant

It might help cut down on Lillian Grant's books being added to Lillian Grant's profile. I know I have reported this at lease 1 other time :-)

I'm pretty sure it's just done on a "first come, first served" sort of basis. Whatever author's work is entered first, has the "regular" spacing, and each one thereafter has an additional space.

all those are talking about Lillian Grant

there were a lot more (from my group) but I have fixed them - since I was the OP. the others listed were not posted by me so I can't fix them.

Yes I get that the other one is virtually unknown (at least on here) and that one is not. That's not really the point though.

Maybe Rivka will decide to make an exception this time, but if you do something once...
