When can you add two to eleven and get one as the correct answer?
I don't know, but the answer that aumee gave me wasn't what I was looking for. The answer I was thinking of was a grandfather, son, and grandson. The son is the son of the grandfather and the father of the grandson.
How can you add 2 to 11 and get 1 as an answer?
11 o'clock add two hours and get 1 o'clock. If that is right.
If you had a match and entered a room in which there was a kerosene lamp, and oil heater, and a wood burning stove, which item would you light first?
Kenzie, you were correct!
Your grand prize is the sheer joy of competition!
The answer to your riddle is that you light the match first!

The answer to your riddle is that you light the match first!
There are four girls, and four apples in a basket. Every girl takes an apple, Yet one apple remains in the basket. How is this possible?
Aumee is correct!!

two?My life can be measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured.
Thin, I am quick
Fat, I am slow
Wind is my foe.
What am I?
If you were to put a coin into an empty bottle and then insert a cork in the bottle's opening, how could you remove the coin without taking out the cork or breaking the bottle?
is the cork smaller than the bottle opening so the cork falls into the bottle with the coin so turn it upside down and remove the coin?
Maybe?
Maybe?
Yup, the cork could either be smaller than the bottle opening, or you could simply push the cork through... just like when you break the cork while tying to open a new bottle and that's the only thing you can do :)
Sorry for taking so long. There are two bodies on the floor. They are surrounded by water and broken glass. How did they die?
Are the bodies human?I think that they are the bodies of two fish who died when their aquarium was broken.
They are two goldfish named sam and fred. Charles the cat knocked the bowl over. Without water, Fred and Sam's gills could no longer function, and they therefore could not breathe. They soon died. How many squares are there in a 5X5 grid of squares?(hint:draw and cound. or picture in your head and count)
You are in a room with three light switches. Each switch controls an incandescent light in the next room.
You cannot see into the room with the lights from the room with the switches.
You can flip the switches as many times as you like but once you enter the room with the lights you may not use the switches again.
All the lights and switches begin in the off position.
How can you tell which switch controls which light?
Have someone stand in the room with the lights and scream back and forth to see which switch does what
You're not allowed any accomplices! You have to figure it out by yourself. You're also not allowed to pull any sneaky tricks like opening the door to the light room, peeking in without entering, and then going back and fiddling with the switches some more!
You are allowed to flip the switches as many times as you like before opening the door/entering the room.
And you are allowed to take as much time as you'd like to solve the problem.
There is no way to observe the lights or otherwise discover their state while you are manipulating the switches.
All the lights are off at the beginning of this exercise.
Each switch controls a different light.
They are standard on/off switches. No tricks. No dimmers. No funny business.
Let me know if you want me to post a hint. ;)
The switches are not labled or marked in any way.Hint:
The fact that the lights are incandescent is important.
Hint:The fact that the challenge doesn't have a time limit is important.
(And the lights are incandescent, remember!)
Well, if they are incandescent, they would give off heat, right? Can you turn on a switch, wait a minute or two, then turn it off, and go and feel which bulb is hot? That would determine which switch operates each light.
Is that right?
You're on the right track, Charity. You've almost got it!Now, how do you use that to solve the puzzle? You need to match all three switches in one fell swoop. So, you can't flip one switch, wait, go touch the bulb to see if it's warm, and then repeat it. Once you enter the light room, you can't play with the switches anymore!
Just flesh out your solution a little more.
