5.9 - Colder AND Bigger!
When water freezes, it expands in volume by 9%. Read a book that is ninth in a series, contains the number 9 in its title, or has a nine in the total number of pages.

For the series option, the book must be listed on Goodreads as 9th in a series.

For the title option, either the numeral 9 or the word Nine will work. You may also use "9th" or "Ninth" as the title word. However, you cannot use other numerals/number words that include nine - for instance, 99 Coffins: A Historical Vampire Tale would NOT work.

For the page number option, this refers to the actual number 9 in the number of pages, not to the sum of the digits in the page number. A book with 259 pages would work, but a book with 333 pages would not. Required: State the number of pages in your post. Readers of alternative formats (ebooks, audiobooks, and large print books) must link to the mass market paperback or other edition used to establish number of pages. See Book Formats and Page Numbers Explained in Rules of the Challenge .

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments Sandy - question - I was looking at reading Nine-Tenths of the Law - the cover doesn't have the hyphen between the ninth and the tenth, but the title does - would you accept?

Sorry, Dee, but the 9/10 makes it not the number nine, but a fraction of 1.

Connie N. Sandy, I'm uncertain about the "total number of pages" option. Since I usually read the large print version, I want to be sure that I'm choosing the correct version for the challenge. I read Still Life by Louise Penny. The St. Martin's paperback version has 293 pages--good. But the Minotaur paperback version has 320 pages--bad. So would this book be acceptable or not?

You're good with that one - just be sure to link to that one when you post.
