Book description is grayed out

Hello - I am a librarian and I have noticed that for some books I can edit the book description in any way I see fit, but for other books the description is grayed out and I can't amend it in any way. Any reason for this?

The ones that are grayed out are copies of the default description.

You should still be able to edit it, you just have to check a box -- IIRC it's in the bottom right under the description box and says "edit default description."

Yeah the positioning of the link to edit it isn't the best, you pretty much have to know you're looking for it and even then it takes me a moment, as it's not something I often need to do.
