I'm trying to decide which story to read next, and I'm kinda torn between The Infinity Gauntlet, Civil War, and Annihilation.
Before I decide, I just have one thing about Infinity Gauntlet that I'm curious about...
Who are the main characters?
I know that Thanos is the antagonist (Obviously) and from what I gather, just about everyone in the marvel universe is present, I just would like to know who the main cast of heroes is before I buy it.

Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer are the "lynchpin" heroes.
There are a lot of other key supporting characters at various points in the story, including Dr. Strange, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Mephisto, Lady Death, Nebula, and so on.

Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation are two of my favorite Marvel stories. Either way you cant go wrong. I do like Civil War but felt it fell flat at a few points.
Civil war is excellent, the only thing it did wrong was unmask a main character and this caused chaos. Big mistake. Otherwise one of my fave story lines. Fantastic art. The others are brill too.
Infinity Gauntlet for sure. You don't need all the crossovers either. Civil War was not to my liking (crap). I haven't read Annihilation yet.
You can then go onto Infinity Crusade and Infinity War, but Gauntlet was the best of the lot.
And Ron Lim art is pretty good too. He is the definitive Silver Surfer artist for me.

Infinity Gauntlet is still one of my favorite Marvel storylines.
In my humbly opinion Annihilation is the better of the three.
Then Infinity Gauntlet: Ron Lim is good, but the first part is by George Perez, a masterpiece!
