Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I was born in 1992. So, all of these references are lost on me.

Félix (habitseven) Here's the story, Laurin.

You're what we call a "Clinton administration baby." As distinct from a "Clinton baby."

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I look very much like my father and nothing like mr. president. So it's safe to say I'm the former, not the latter.

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Felix, I've heard about the suicide, mainly the sweats/nikes. I watched a lot of "I Love the 90's".

My econ teacher got mad at me one class because I didn't know who Ross Perot is.

Sally doesn't know who that is either, and she was born in 1962!

message 57: by Cheri (new)

Cheri | 795 comments Sally wrote: "OH, IN 1984 MY WORLD WAS ABUZZ WITH THE COMET. aND AGAIN IN 1992 WHEN ALL THOSE PEOPLE IN L.A. COMMITTED SUICIDE BECAUSE OF IT."

You know, they found a survivor of that mass suicide hiding under the kitchen sink. Behind the the comet.

Cheri | 795 comments Félix wrote: "I had to wear a suit to work every day in 1992."

Worse! I had to wear high heals and a bra. (And other things too).

Nice one. He obviously didn't read the memo very well...

message 60: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I feel like a title change is eminent...

To what, "what did you wear in 1992?" or "comet survivor behind the comet"?

message 62: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I like the comet survivor option.

Jane (shoxford) | 39 comments Amy- He recommended The Master & Margarita by Bulgakov which I haven't got around to reading yet and Everything Flows by Grossman which I did read but is quite depressing

Thanks! Have not read Everything Flows, but The Master & Margarita is already on my TBR list.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments January 1992 found me in pajamas, desperate for a shower, with a hungry newborn who would not nap and a crabby 2-year-old who was refusing to toilet train and mad at me for bringing home another baby.

You have officially arrived.

Félix (habitseven) Where are my sunglasses?

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments Félix wrote: "Where are my sunglasses?"

Check on top of your head. That's where I usually find mine.

Félix (habitseven) You find your sunglasses on my head?

message 72: by Amy (new)

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments Yes. Please give them back. They're missing again.

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

I use to only read what are commonly referred to as classics. Now, I read ya and fantasy for the most part, with a few diversions here & there.

message 74: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I love reading both classics and more contemporary literature. Right now I'm reading Crime & Punishment, which has been a favourite of mine for almost ten years now. I love most of the Russian greats I've read.

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Have you read Tolstoy's Master and Man? That is a favorite of mine, Janine.

message 76: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I've only read Anna Karenina, which I loved.

message 77: by Amy (new)

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments I've read a lot of Tolstoy but haven't read Master and Man yet, although several people have told me they love it. Anna Karenina is one of my favorite reads of all time.

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm, might have to pull that out. Wait, let me see if I already have it or not.

Nope, picked up an e-copy real quick for $3.
