just taught he shouldn't have died good character wanted some opinions on it
He was a great character and thats one of the reasons he died - Mead wanted to show, that she is a good enough autor that she can kill any character and we (her fans) will still read anything she writes. She has a talent in writing things different authors wouldn't and thats why I like her so much. She can always surprise me.
Plus, he came back in the next book like a ghost...

that is exactly why i think it happened too.
other wise she might not have been as eager to be with Dimitri.
she probably still would have but it wouldn't have been as good
(im only up to the second book)

So true. He is good!!!

Except Rose, or we wouldn't have seen more of mason :)

Richelle Mead, you are one gifted writer!

"What the hell are you reading about?" She says and walks away. I busted out laughing

Your making me cry again with that picture!!!! *sobs*
and i have no idea why that made me cry more than the first time i read the graphic novel :(
MASON!!!!!!

I was like "there is no way he just died. no way."

yeh if they kept mason and she pursued a relationship with dimitri then she would have turned into a whore like Zoe from the House of Night Novels, no offence meant if you like HON

Good Point...

Thank you :)

I cannot speak for the author of this series, but as a writer working on my own stuff I have come to find that in the process of letting the events of the story take shape, things I least expected like the death of a favorite character do come to be a major turning point in the story. As horrified as I am by this if I were to change that sudden and shocking development, somehow it wouldn't be the same. The characters wouldn't be the same.

R.I.P Mason!!!
He had to die for Rose to really grow up, to see the reality of the world she lives in. He was loveable enough that he had an effect on her, but he was one-not enough that the story could continue well. His death was tragic but necessary, if they had all escaped Spokane alive Rose would continue to be cocky and reckless. His death subdued that in her and helped her realize that actions do have consequence.

Mason meant a lot to Rose, even though she didn't see him as a boyfriend, she did love him and care for him. His death is a turning point in the story. Rose changes, becomes serious and determinant, and he was the only on besides Lissa and Dimitri who could have made such a change in her, and it wouldn't make much sense to kill either of those two, since they are some of the main characters.
I cried, he was such a happy and awesome character.

They basically just got screwed over and left behind by Rose on her quest to get back with Dimitri and get Lissa on the throne.

Yeah,Because that's what EVERYONE does when they break up with their boyfriend. :DD

LOL. In novels they often do.

Yeah, until the LS. Then she sort of devolved.
